About HCBF

What is High Country Bus Festival Anyway?

High Country Bus Festival is held every summer during the last full weekend of July. During the hot summers it is great to get up in the mountains and cool off in the breezes. But it can get chilly at night, be sure to pack some warm clothes! What a great opportunity to come camping with old friends and new. Our location is right on the New River in Crumpler, North Carolina.

There are many different types of sites to choose to camp. There is a large field on the river with some hook-ups. There are also some gorgeous remote sites in the primitive area if you do not like crowds. You DO NOT NEED TO CALL for reservations. The camping spots are first come, first served. If you would like power or a waterfront site, you will need to come early. Please keep your site as compact as possible and share this beautiful location with as many people as possible. Dogs must be kept on a leash and please pick up after your pet.

Twin Rivers Campground is North Carolina’s best kept secret! Nestled on the South Fork of the New River, you are only a 20 minute walk from the confluence of the North and South Forks of the second oldest river in the world! In 1997 President Clinton declared the New River a National Heritage River. The title is a created designation for rivers that have historic and scenic value, and it is intended to highlight the way rivers unite the regions through which they flow.
